Settle in for a Friday night of exceptional live jazz as pianist Scott Mertens joins us for Downtown After Dark at Palace Wine Bar.

Based in Northern Illinois, Scott is a jazz pianist, educator, composer, and arranger with degrees from the University of Missouri and Northern Illinois University. A familiar presence in the regional jazz scene, he performs throughout the Chicago area, serves on the faculty of the NIU Jazz Camp, and plays with the Doug Stone/Doug Bratt Big Band. By day, he shares his passion for jazz with the next generation as a band director in Sycamore.

For Downtown After Dark, Scott brings his talents to Palace for an intimate evening at the piano. Grab a glass, order a board for the table, and settle in for sophisticated live jazz in the heart of downtown Rockford.
